Andrew, i am hoping to include audio & video at some point on slidingpast.com.

i do have all the videos that Jeff has posted on idahomusic.com. the only video i don't have, that at one time was available online, is the FUEL video. i believe there are at least 2 versions (maybe 3) that included more/less film footage from FLOUNDERING and/or more/less of Jeff.

for the life of me i cant figure out how to navigate around this site.....where the heck is the german interview for instance?...i once stumbled across a press page but cannot find it again....the site needs better navigational links .....its really great otherwise

Subject:   RE: slidingpast.com

the navigation will change eventually to have links to go wherever from the start. i like it for now though. sorry for any problems. i've linked the sections in order of the way i've worked on them. releases. tours. photos. press.

all anyone has to do is to click on the slidingpast.com banner at the top of each page to go to another section (since that banner keeps changing appearance page to page).

maybe i haven't dug deep enough in brians site, but i can't seem to find smt on the score Jeff did of some festival film a few years back. the tunes were in a sample he had put up once. maybe Jeff can come up with a full song or two, as i remember it to be beautiful. can't remember the title of it though. also a long long time ago there was an mp3 of a live performance on a party, (alive again?) that was neat enough to put up maybe?

Michel - the film is called How To Make The Cruelest Month. Jeff posted 2 different collections of music from the score. One was FORKIP which was 4:24 while the other (after requests for more) was FILMSAMPLER and is 12:29. hopefully one day all the songs will be available in some form, as well as the movie.

and as far as lyrics for Hearts & We Were Young, they will be available soon.

Brian, maybe you're aware of this, but the reviews for Hearts of Palm aren't coming up. There's an error of some sort.

Alex, thanks for letting me know. you apparently caught the site while i was updating various sections. all is working now.

all of the press reviews on slidingpast.com are scanned/formatted from the original articles or reviews as-is. there are several mistakes, which just shows how much attention a lot of writers had about the subject at hand. it must be said though that the majority of the errors are from indie zines and a few college papers.

I see why Jeff doesn't want to mess with labels anymore. It also further solidifies my opinion of them in general.

this is upsetting but it isnt that surprising, to be realistic, unfortunatly the music industry is an "industry" and they need to sell records so their employees can afford to pay their mortgages and feed and cloth their families, also idaho arnt the most commercial sounding of bands.

i suppose to summarise i could write "this doesnt excuse their actions, but at least now i feel we understand them a little better"

It is distressing though to read this sort of stuff, but i do think if anyone else reading this is upset, then they get up off their asses and set up their own record company to distribute music the way they feel it should be done. especially musicians who want to distibute their own music, maybe this internet thing could be handy!

post more of these letters brian, i would like to know what happened next to this band "idaho"

Reading the '92-'93 correspondence this afternoon compelled me to insert 'Year After Year' into my player and it has yet to cease. I so love hearing Jeff sing with his lower register! I am pleased to reconfirm YAY's place among my favorite albums. -To be quite superficial, after viewing the '93 photographs I must state that Mr. Martin had the most remarkable hair. :)

Yeah, I kinda wish Jeff would go back to singing in his lower register once in a while. It would give Idaho CDs even more variety.

i've added the rest of the correspondence that i have had access to so far. including the most interesting ones from the publicity agency at the time, Susan Blond Inc. with two mentioning a possible tour that would have been great to see and MAY have drawn more attention to I D A H O at the time. there are quite a few updates from this agency regarding press coverage during a 3-4 month campaign, but most are pretty repetitive in detailing which publication may or may not cover the band so i didn't include them all.

it was really interesting to be able to compile these pieces to see what it was like for new/unknown bands in the post-Nirvana frenzy. check out the timeline from Caroline as example. i'll continue to add whenever possible.

thanks.

impossible to read? sounds like the images are being automatically resized to your screen sizes.

you need to maximize the images to full size (cursor over the image and click the icon that pops up or adjust your browser settings to NOT resize images).

should be able to read them since all the scans are at 300dpi and are 1000 pixels in height.

Any headway in posting the KEXP performance I sent you? I noticed you posted the songs played and the time. The KEXP web site says they hold the copywright to in-studio recordings, but they did not post this one in their archives. Do you want me to try to help you get permission? I know a few people there.

That's cool that "Rope" is on Vieux Carre. I was just about to waste my money on the Low comp...

i've updated the site tonight and i'm trying a new pop up navigation, so if you have them blocked, allow them for slidingpast and somethingmustbreak.

lots of updates to come as the tour begins.

The poster is cool but now the rest of the site isn't working well. The top 'Sliding Past' banner doesn't go anywhere. And it's not my pop-up blocker. If I go to the updates page, the good 'Sliding Past' banner is there below the new one that doesn't go anywhere and I can navigate from there.

Andrew, you should see 2 windows when you go to the main page, one is the navigation window and the other is about the SMB cd. the top slidingpast banner, when clicked, will only reload the banner and the navigation window if someone has closed it. i'll adjust things over the weekend. a mix of old and new.

ok, so i've changed some stuff again. only one pop up now for the SMB cd. the red banner links are non working as i've just made the site links available at the top of the screen permanent (for now).

i'll be adding a search function soon and will be reorganizing some files in the releases, in case something doesn't work when visited.

future links:
members: bio pages & info.
lyrics: (which are already available on the individual releases pages)

any suggestions?

a major update will be coming soon courtesy of Mr. Mark Lewis, as he too has contributed part of his personal archive from time spent in I D A H O, to be shared with fans.

there will numerours additions to the tour dates from the '90s as well as scans of the actual set lists from just about every show from those tours. it's just amazing.

all in due time after SMB gets on it's feet. which i've added to the releases section.

as always, if anyone has anything from any year that would be of interest, please e-mail me and let me know. thanks.

hey Adam, it's always cool to find those flyers and posters from shows you've been too. i know i'm always looking for stuff from all the shows i've been to through the years from all bands i've seen.

glad you got to see it.

you wouldn't happen to have a ticket stub or anything else from that show, or any others, to be able to add to slidingpast would you?

thanks.
